Vahid Esmaeelzadeh combines his passion for Persian Calligraphy with his software engineering development and discipline to create unconventional abstract pieces, through the medium of acrylics and oil, on wood and canvas. With a Masters in Persian Calligraphy and a PhD in Computer Science, he sets about creating distinguished pieces that unite the industrial/academic and art worlds. While his form and format reflect his engineering logic and discipline, his study and tutoring on the calligraphy styles of notables such as Nastaliq and Shekaste informs his artistic vision.

As a humble academic, he professes that there is nothing to read into his work, claiming to only want to create beautiful compositions of forms and colors. At the same time he tries not to limit himself on the meanings of the elements and texts that he uses, but rather allows them to make their own statement, in an historical Persian and yet contemporary fashion. His modesty is overshadowed by his unique pieces, very much in the style of Siah-mashgh, which uses repeated Persian Calligraphy elements to create beautifully open abstract artwork and eye-catching sculptures, with alluring and enduring negative spaces, for the viewer to interpret and enjoy.

Esmaeelzadeh began painting in his abstract style in 2015, while simultaneously studying for his PhD in computer Science and teaching Persian calligraphy.

In 2016 his abstract painting named "Contiguous" was sold on Saatchi Art.

In 2021, he founded NeyNevis Art Gallery (Zolalart LLC) to promote his artworks. He has held a number of successful exhibitions including in California.
